A few weeks ago, Efteling debuted a new incarnation of Aquanura, featuring Dutch singer Guus Meeuwis. I have to be honest, I’d never heard of him before now. The show however, has definitely grown on me. The Carnaval Festival segment in particular is very catchy and gets into your head. This show also features Symbolica which was really nice to hear.
First and most importantly it’s the words we all hate to hear…’Efteling have raised their ticket prices’. There’s not too much to worry about though, as the tickets have only been hiked by 50¢, making basic admission now €36.50 or €34.50 when bought online. See prices for other tickets below.

Secondly is news on something that is a little surprising, and that is that Efteling are giving a nod to foreign visitors by including ‘Typically Dutch’ parts of the park on their park map. For instance, food in the wall has been given a Typically Dutch label, being marked on the map with a little Dutch girl (who looks like she escaped from Carnaval Festival). This label has also been given to Anton Pieck Square, the Oliebollen cart at the main entrance, De Soete Inval and the Kinderspoor. It may seem like a strange move, since you’d probably assume that these things are ‘Typically Dutch’ anyway when visiting from another country, but now Efteling are making sure that you know! This looks like another step in catering towards visitors from outside of the Netherlands, and that of course, we welcome!
There is also some sort of confusing news about the Water Organ which is located in the Carousel building. The organ has stood unused for many years, with the room being used as a TV studio a couple of years ago but otherwise standing empty. A few days ago, some activity from Efteling on Twitter indicated that the organ will not be opening, possibly ever again, although they then said that no decision had been made about the matter. Confusing! It has been said that Aquanura is basically a bigger and better replacement for the organ, which still retains a lot of the charm that Efteling is famous for.

Dutch DJ Tiësto performed a set at Efteling the other night, with the help of Aquanura. There was some Efteling music mixed into the set, naturally! Check it out:
Updates have been a little slow lately, apologies!
Of course, life in Efteling goes on, and the Negen Pleinen Festijn is in now in full swing. As mentioned in a previous update, much of the entertainment is the same as last year, with a couple of new additions. Here are all the colourful characters getting ready for a night of entertainment:
And here’s one of the new shows which you can enjoy outside of the Droomvlucht at Ton van de Ven Plein:
In other news, Breda will be playing host to Redhead Day 2014 from Friday 5th-Sunday 7th September (more like Redhead weekend!). To announce the event’s theme which is ‘Wonderland’, 50 redheads from across the Netherlands met at Efteling to compete against each other on Joris en de Draak. Which resulted in this interesting photo:
That’s a lot of redheads! And thanks to Megan Mawer for the info on this interesting event 🙂
And last of all, Aquanura in the morning?!
Yes, Efteling are promoting their evening shows of Aquanura by putting on a small show throughout the morning until about 12 noon. It has its own melody, and at the end the audience are told about Aquanura and when they can see it. Quite a nice way to wake the park up on a morning!
Today was BUSY. We expected that though. Visited the new Raveleijn which is definitely an improvement on the original show, and we just saw Aquanura in the dark for the first time! We love Efteling in the dark and wish it happened more often in the summer.
Wherever you are in the UK, you may have noticed a lot of rain last Saturday night, and apparently, so did Efteling. Of course, Efteling is open until midnight during the Summer season, but a few attractions had to close slightly before that due to water pouring in by the bucket load! The last showing of Aquanura was cancelled due to the engines getting wet, as well as the Carousel Palace, the White Horse, the Efteling Theatre and Raveleijn all being affected by the storm. Apparently, the car park was also turned into a huge puddle as the whole park tried to leave in their cars. Thunder and lightening are frightening, but hundreds of theme park guests trying to drive out of a car park at the same time, horrifying!
Also, the Golf Club caught fire. However, it was a small one that was warded off with a couple of fire extinguishers. Click here for the photos.
A while ago, we were asked if we wanted to write an article for MiceChat.com about Efteling. So of course we couldn’t pass up the opportunity! We asked you all to send us your thoughts on Efteling, and a few of you did, which we included in the article. Today, it was published on the site, and we’re happy to share it with you now 🙂
